Duct Tape Flower Pens

Bring some color and fun to your next test or meeting with your own duct tape flower pen! No watering or pruning necessary. These everlasting blooms are inspired by the real and crafted plants and flowers in our current exhibition, Society of 23’s Conservatory.  Enjoy the lush environment created in the Lamont Gallery by artist Jeffrey Augustine Songco then put your green thumbs to work crafting your own blossoms!

Floral Suncatchers

January is dark, gray… and cold. But the Lamont Gallery has been transformed into a bright space full of color and living plants as part of our current exhibition, Society of 23’s Conservatory. Experience the taste of summer in this immersive installation by artist Jeffrey Augustine Songco, then make your own suncatcher to take home and brighten up any space! We have a selection of acrylic suncatchers with floral designs, painting materials, and beads for you to choose from.

Artist Talk with Jeffrey Augustine Songco

Join us for an evening of art and conversation with visiting artist Jeffrey Augustine Songco. Songco will give a slideshow presentation, guiding attendees through his artistic practice and past projects.  Society of 23’s Conservatory captures the look and feel of a conservatory meets greenhouse during the sun-drenched days of summer. Through the scope of florals and bouquet arrangements, Songco “plants” visual clues and non-verbal messages throughout the space, inviting viewers to reflect on their own personal and cultural origin stories and consider the constructs we create and dismantle for ourselves.

Visitors are invited to attend an optional tour of the exhibition, led by Songco, prior to his artist talk from 5:30-5:45pm. Please meet in Lamont Gallery.

Lunch at the Conservatory with Jeffrey Augustine Songco

Lunch and Learn is a collaborative, casual talk with exhibiting artist Jeffrey Augustine Songco. Grab a bite to eat and learn more about Songco’s art-making process while we collectively explore his installation, Society of 23’s Conservatory.

Michigan-based artist Jeffrey Augustine Songco celebrates his personal journey within American popular culture by examining the living symbols and objects that bring meaning to his narratives. Society of 23’s Conservatory is an immersive, site-specific installation that combines photography, video, and sculpture in a multisensory experience. Songco captures the look and feel of a conservatory meets greenhouse during the sun-drenched days of summer, as he invites visitors to explore themes such as friendship, perfection, non-native, and exoticism.

Themed beverages will be made by H4 (Health’s Angels), a peer education group committed to raising awareness on a myriad of health issues that impact not just our community but the world.

Who are you grateful for… you should tell them!

A good friend who always makes you laugh? An advisor you can ask anything? A family member you can be yourself with? …. There are many people who help us through our day, let them know you are thinking about them.

Beading and friendship bracelet supplies, as well as a variety of art materials and cardmaking supplies will be available for you to use in the Lamont Gallery Classroom. Stop in, take an art break, munch on some candy while you make something hand-made for someone special or for yourself.

Succulent Social

(Please Note: this event is only open to current Exeter students and employees.)

Need a little green to brighten your February? Come to the Lamont Gallery to plant your own succulent and design a custom planter using cut vinyl shapes. This workshop is inspired by the lush environment and botanicals created by artist Jeffrey Augustine Songco in our current exhibition Society of 23’s Conservatory.

All materials provided but supplies are offered on a first come, first serve basis. One succulent per person please.
